Darryl Furtkamp’s series of recent monotypes are meditative reflections fusing western landscape and the natural environments of rural Northern New England. These interpretive works are inspired by and at times directly reference the literary work of contemporary regional authors. Furtkamp spent many years in the Northern Rocky Mountain states before relocating to New England over a decade ago. The landscapes and culture of each of these areas have been deeply formative in his life and his art. The influence of literary works has enhanced his interpretive connection to these areas and allowed memory and experience to transcend distance. Furtkamp teaches in New England and returns each summer to the Rocky Mountain West.
